The Pre-Marriage Course

Everyone who is preparing to be married in Godalming Minster is invited to spend a day together, alongside other couples, on a marriage preparation day. The day follows the Pre-Marriage Course which is run by thousands of churches nationally and internationally.
The course is run by experienced leaders from Godalming Minster, supported by members of the clergy team, and is open to anyone preparing to make the big step together whether your wedding is here or not.
WHO IS THE PRE-MARRIAGE COURSE FOR?

The Marriage Preparation Course is for any engaged couple planning to give their marriage the best possible start. The course is also for couples who would like to explore the idea of getting married, or for couples where one or both partners have been married previously.
The course is based on Christian principles but designed for all couples with or without a church background.
You do not need to be getting married in a church to come on the course.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE DAY?

We meet on a Saturday for a relaxed day together. We provide lunch and refreshments and all you need for the day. Privacy is respected, there is no group discussion or group work, and no requirement to disclose anything about their relationship, but couples can discuss issues with a married 'support couple' if they wish.

The course is free to attend, but you are welcome to make a donation if you'd like.
THE COUPLE SURVEY
“Questionnaire [couple survey] was very good and feedback useful – good to get us thinking before the day itself.”
We also ask you to complete a questionnaire called the Couple Survey, which is completed online. The questionnaire is not a test of compatibility, but will help you recognise issues to discuss as a couple prior to marriage and affirm areas of strength in your relationship. One of the course leaders can meet with you, either on the day itself, or preferably over an evening meal some time, to discuss any issues that might arise in the survey. We will email you details of the questionnaire and a link to the website around two weeks before the start of the course.
