James Ellin
Youth minister
James oversees the 0-18s work for the church alongside his fantastic team. He can be found with a bible in one hand, a coffee in the other, and a donut somewhere nearby. He also leads the monthly 6.30 unplugged congregation, aimed at 14-25s, it is however, inter-generational, and looking to step in to the freedom and fullness of God in worship and teaching.
He is married to Emma and they have a dog called Harris. He loves cooking, eating, and spending time with friends.
James has previously worked as a barman, bar-manager, non-church youth worker, chamber-maid(!), fencing contractor, gardener, sales assistant, and much more. before taking up post here at Busbridge&Hambledon, he was ministry apprentice at Cranleigh Baptist Church - something he gets teased about as he's now working in the CofE!
He has a particular interest in leadership, and developing young leaders. Alongside Emma, he leads a Scripture Union Beach Mission in Perranporth, Cornwall [link].
James loves Jesus and wants others to know Him for themselves, not in a wishy-washy sense, but in the same way that the disciples knew Jesus, up close and personal!
His verse for ministry is Psalm 78v4:
"...we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done."
His verse for life is Ephesians 5v1-2:
"Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
