Busbridge Church: Benefactors from Busbridge Hall
7.15pm, Busbridge Church
With Sally Gorton
Busbridge Church was built thanks to the ‘munificence of John Ramsden, Esq., of Busbridge Hall’. John Ramsden’s wife, Emma, was instrumental in this patronage and remained closely involved with the Church throughout her time at Busbridge Hall. Subsequent owners of Busbridge Hall followed her example and contributed to the church building through gifts which now form part of its familiar fabric.
Sally Gorton is a local artist and researcher who, together with her husband Philip, specialises in house history. She has extensively researched the history of Busbridge Hall and will share anecdotes connected with the Hall and its owners including Emma Ramsden and her son Ellis Gosling. Encompassing parties and patronage, celebration and sadness - and a storyline with echoes of Downton Abbey - join us for a memorable evening, including a glass of wine.
Please book your place by email to firstname.lastname@example.org using “Busbridge Hall” as your message title.
There is no charge for the event, however donations for the Old Rectory project are welcomed.
