What is the Ark?
Available at both Busbridge and Hambledon we aim for the Ark to be “probably” the best hour of your child’s week! We want to create a child-targeted ministry where we make the teaching relevant for today from a child’s perspective. We teach Biblical truths in a creative way that is FUN for children aged 3 to the end of Year 2. The children are separated into four year groups and start with an “all-together time” where there is worship, drama and stories. This is followed by circle time and a biscuit after which they separate into their groups in different rooms. In the small groups they go through the key learning point of the morning and make a craft to reinforce it.
Where and when?
The Ark meets every Sunday apart from the first Sunday which is an All-Age service, in Busbridge Junior School Dining Room at 10.15am once the children are released from the service.
Please take your children to their colour-coded group mat where they are met by their group leaders/helpers: Busy Fishes (Red), Cheeky Monkeys (Blue) and Cool Camels (Yellow). Please hand your child over to the leader and make sure they are signed in, indicating which of the two services you can be found at should the need arise. Please state at that point who will be collecting your child, and if a sibling, they must be over 14. Our session starts with an all-together time involving worship; Bible teaching; circle time and prayer. After about 45 mins the groups move to their respective classrooms to chat about the subject and do some craft.
What about staffing?
We endeavour to have a very good adult-to-child ratio in “The Ark”. The groups are also supported by a number of Ichthus helpers. When and where do I pick my child up? Our session finishes at 11.15am and we would ask that you prioritise collecting your child from their classroom at that time or if the service runs late, as soon as it finishes. Leaders are asked to ensure that children are handed over to their parents or a sibling over 14, if this is different please let leaders know at the beginning of the session. For security purposes, could you please ensure you do not pass through Cool Camel’s classroom en-route to picking up your child. After the service there is coffee in the School Hall to which all are welcome. The school has asked that we do not play with their equipment although we do have a selection of our own which can be found in the playground.
Do you have prayer support for “the Ark”?
We are blessed by a small group of people who pray for us before our session but we do value all your prayers for our groups .
Yes please! We would love to have you come and help us in any way you can. We often need extra helpers when the numbers increase or when existing leaders leave. Only a passion for telling children about Jesus is needed.
We hope this answers most of your questions. If not please contact Alex Hodson at the church office or phone 01483 421267.
